After 800 college closures, AICTE hints at mergers to save dying institutes

After its decision to shut down around 800 colleges over lower admission and poor quality, the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) have now decided for merger of colleges and even accepting buyout proposals, according to a media report. AICTE: Tech colleges to refund fees, return certificates of students who leave

From this academic session, engineering colleges across the country will have to refund the fee collected from the students in case they don’t join the course or if they leave midway. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has also directed the institutes not to withhold the school/institute leaving certificates of students.
