‘Major leak’ in Tarboro water system closes five Edgecombe County schools

TARBORO, N.C. — Edgecombe County Public Schools closed five schools Friday after a “major leak” in the Town of Tarboro’s water system. The district announced the closures in a post on its Facebook page. The schools are Martin Millennium Academy, Pattillo Middle School, Princeville Elementary, Stocks Elementary and Tarboro High School. The district said the day will be an optional work day for staff at the closed schools, but all other schools in the district will hold class as usual.
