Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia appeared before the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Friday at 11 am and was questioned for over two hours over some charges in an alleged recruitment scam in Delhi Commission for Women (DCW). As per reports he had written ha letter demanding an alleged recruitment scam in Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), after which the issue cropped up since only the chief minister has the right to write to the Lieutenant Governor.
Earlier ACB Chief MK Meena had said that the deputy CM will be quized as to on whose authority had he sent the letter. While pointing out that it was found after a probe that there were confirmed irregularities in the appointments in the women’s commission, Meena said that the panel does not have the right to make such decisions. They were not implementing a transparent manner in the case, he added.
Meena further said that the complaint against these people said they had done the recruitment against the procedures and they do not have the power to recruit in that manner. Apart from this, they are giving out salaries on an arbitrary basis and also there are also some people who got jobs because of their connections within the panel.
Stressing that this was a misuse of authority and funds, Meena said a case has been filed against DCW Chief Swati Maliwal under the Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC sections.
In the meantime, Maliwal termed ACB’s summoning of Sisodia as “political vendetta”. She claimed that he had no role in the appointments made to the women’s panel. “ACB summoning @msisodia reeks of political vendetta. He has no role in DCW appointments. DCW was always autonomous”she said in a tweet.
“Sad. ACB pursuing false case against me, not taking action on my corruption complain against Shiela Dixit for past 3 weeks despite evidence (sic),” Maliwal said in another.
The commission is under the scanner of ACB for arbitrarily appointing 85 people in past year.
