ONGOLE: The Andhra Pradesh Unaided School Managements’ Association on Friday urged the State government to provide a hand-holding support to them so as to offer better education to students.
APUSM State president A. Krishna Reddy told a press conference here after its general body meeting that even as the student strength in the State-run educational institutions kept declining over a period, private schools provided quality education to students.
Pressing for financial assistance to private schools, APUSM State general secretary G. Pullaih objected to the new fire safety regulations which made it mandatory for the schools to renew every year as against five years earlier. Stating that private schools were no commercial ventures, district president Hanumantha Rao wanted the power tariff to be reduced on a par with domestic connections.
Private schools should be taken into confidence when the State government took any policy decision, said district general secretary K. Madhava Rao.
They wanted the recognition given to private schools to be continued without any break for the schools that switched over from Telugu medium to English medium. The private schools should not be brought under the purview of the Right to Education Act and under no circumstances examinations for students postponed without consulting them, they added.
