BHOPAL: Role of district administration officials who made fake identification documents of seven youths from Uttar Pradesh to enable them appear in army recruitment exam here is under the scanner.
A police team also left for Bulandshahr in UP along with the arrested youths on Friday night to catch hold of the kingpin identified as Kiran Kumar alias Rahul. Interestingly, police checking of hotels in old city in view of Ijtima led to unearthing of this major racket in army recruitment on Wednesday. Seven youths from UP were arrested and fake identification documents were seized from them. However, the kingpin, Rahul, managed to scoot.
Though not sure of the scam’s gravity, cops apprehend that it may turn out to be another scam like Vyapam. Going through a register, a team of Talaiya police found seven youths aged around 20 years staying in Hotel Samrat. They were surprised to see addresses of Bhopal like Chhola Mandir, TT Nagar and other places on identity cards provided by them to the hotel, which left the police suspicious.
When police questioned the youths, their dialect made it clear that they were not from Bhopal. Identity cards and documents with them were found to be forged after which police took them into custody. Those arrested have been identified as Santosh Lodhi, Dilip Verma, Rahul Sharma, Sumit Sonwani, Sachin Dehram, Deepak and Abhay Sharma. All are residents of Bulandshahr and adjoining towns of UP.
