TARBORO, N.C. — Edgecombe County Public Schools closed five schools Friday after a “major leak” in the Town of Tarboro’s water system.
The district announced the closures in a post on its Facebook page. The schools are Martin Millennium Academy, Pattillo Middle School, Princeville Elementary, Stocks Elementary and Tarboro High School.
The district said the day will be an optional work day for staff at the closed schools, but all other schools in the district will hold class as usual.
Due to continued issues because of a major leak in the water system in the Town of Tarboro, the following schools will be closed for students today, Friday December 15th: Martin Millennium Academy, Pattillo Middle School, Princeville Elementary, Stocks Elementary, and Tarboro High School.
Today will be an optional staff workday for staff members at those schools. All other schools in the district will operate on the planned early release schedule.
