In a highly competitive and volatile job market, the corporate world is extremely cautious in choosing its recruitment destinations. The parameters which determine the selection of campuses for entry-level recruitment are also diverse and the weightage assigned to each varies from company to company. Nevertheless, it is not very difficult to recognize the common traits that are more relevant in helping companies identify great campuses. Here, the institutions of higher education, under the umbrella of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI), stand distinctively apart and are considered among the major recruitment destinations by the corporate sector.
The MREI campus has a unique distinction: all its affiliates, university and colleges [viz MRIU, MRCE (now MRU) and MRDC] are NAAC-accredited Grade ‘A’ institutions. The campus has secured excellent ratings in five parameters by QS, the prestigious international rating agency. These credible ratings boost the brand image of the campus as they infuse confidence amongst the recruiters about the overall quality of the campus and its students.
The corporate sector further believes that campuses which enable extensive exposure to their students through collaborative ventures with industry partners and tie-ups with international universities provide an edge to the graduating students. In this regard, Manav Rachna has extensive collaboration in curriculum development, R&D, and student-exchange programmes with IBM, KPMG, JBM, Mitshubishi, Honda, Su-Kam, etc and tie-ups with 40 international universities.
Recruiting companies follow a well-defined strategy for selecting students these days. In particular, they prefer to identify institutions and campuses with credibility. They have their own accreditation / empanelment process with a quintessential aim of a higher hit-ratio and cost effectiveness for the recruitment process. Manav Rachna is justifiably proud to be accredited / empanelled as a recruitment destination by industry leaders viz TCS, Accenture, Infosys, IBM, Samsung (R&D), Covedian, Capital IQ, Maruti-Suzuki, HCL Technologies, NIIT technologies, PNB Housing Finance Ltd, Nestle, Hewlett Packard, and Dell, to name a few. The companies which recruit in bulk prefer to visit only a few accredited campuses for ‘assured and quality’ recruitment.
Some of the big brands do not visit campuses for their limited vacancies. They enlist the help of agencies involved in evaluating ‘employability quotient’ of students, such as Aspiring Minds, CoCubes, e-Litmus, First Naukri, Talent Grids, etc. Manav Rachna facilitates the participation of students in these tests, which in turn gets them direct interview calls from reputed national and international companies for their entry-level positions. Our students have been selected into highly acclaimed and globally competitive slots, such as Amazon, Adobe, LinkedIn, etc. through these open competitive modes of recruitment.
In executing the campus recruitment programme, the Corporate Resource Centre (CRC) follows a transparent and credible computer-based system, which infuses confidence among students as well as prospective recruiters. CRC has a dedicated portal for executing the recruitment process. The personal and academic data of all students who reach the placement year (also called the job-market year) are uploaded into the portal. A system-generated mail goes to all such students inviting them to register themselves. CRC keeps a track of the recruitment calendar of all its industry associates and obtains the Job Description (JD) accordingly. Based on the eligibility criteria prescribed by the recruiter, all eligible students are sent an invitation along with the JD, so that they may participate in the placement drive. The recruiter visits the campus on a mutually agreed date and conducts its selection process as per the JD. The results are announced soon after the process is over.
Job-Ready Skills in a Competitive World
In a world of changing market dynamics, educational institutions have undergone a paradigm shift. Backed by enhanced teaching methodology and industry orientation, premier educational institutions like MREI are creating a steady stream of students who are market-ready and leading from the front. Dedicated towards quality education and industry-academia interface, students at Manav Rachna imbibe knowledge that is in sync with the latest in technology and trends.
Amar Naidu, a student of CSE, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Manav Rachna International University–would testify to that: “It was Manav Rachna that helped me to crack the gruelling selection process of Amazon. My experience at the Institution has been amazing and there is much that I have learned during my college days that I wish to carry forward and implement in my career ahead.”
The same sense of accomplishment is evident in the words of Sourabh Mehta, Alumni of CSE, Manav Rachna University who won a dream job at Adobe. He states, “Manav Rachna has been a boon in my life where I received both personal and professional learning. It was my internship with MSKCLEAN which honed my technical abilities and helped me excel in the placement drive of ADOBE, awarding me the salary package of Rs 10 LPA, a dream for any fresher like me. The moment filled my parents and my educators with pride and pleasure in a journey that was greatly fulfilling!”
Manav Rachna also has a Career Development Center (CDC), its learning training arm that looks after the skill enhancement requirements of the students. CDC helps students realize their full potential through Personal Productivity Skills (Time Management, Problem solving, Decision making etc.) and Managerial Skills (Performance Management, Effective Coaching, Team Building etc.) to help them become employable. CDC enables students to explore opportunities in the market, make informed career-related decisions, and create a compelling action plan (Effective resume, Covering letter, Preparation for Personal Interview, etc.) to help them gain their first employment, grow in an organization, and ensure self development throughout their professional careers. That apart, CDC also facilitates a plethora of career augmentation facilities like SAP Student Academy, Study Center in collaboration with Career Launcher, Communication Gym, Career Path Navigator, and Manav Rachna Center of Foreign Languages.
