Abhijit Khasnis, the co-founder of white collar job marketplace Hiree which was acquired by Quikr, has quit the firm and joined Tata Digital Health as chief technology officer. While Khasnis left the online classified firm in February, Hiree’s other co-founder Manjunath Talwar continues to serve as vice president at QuikrJobs, a person familiar with the development told VCCircle.
A Quikr spokesperson confirmed that Khasnis had transitioned from his role at the firm. At Hiree, he looked after technology and operations as chief operating officer.
The startup, which began as a site to help companies quickly fill job vacancies by hiring from a pool of candidates serving their notice period, became operational in early 2014 and was incubated at Nasscom 10,000 Startups Warehouse.
It then raised seed funding and a Series A round from investors including IDG Ventures. Following its rebranding in May 2015, the company expanded to allow working professionals to search for prospective openings elsewhere.
The funding slowdown that gripped the Indian startup landscape in 2015-16 impacted the company’s growth plans which forced it to scale down operations. Hiree eventually rolled into Quikr in a mostly stock deal in July last year to strengthen QuikrJobs’ offerings as part of Quikr’s broader strategy to expand its main business verticals through acquisitions.
Tata Digital Health, a division of Tata Industries, offers a host of services to medical professionals and patients including electronic medical record maintenance, virtual care, remote monitoring, online practice management and labs for independent health clinics.
